A man died after falling onto the tracks at Huskur Road Metro Station on Namma Metro’s Yellow Line at around 5:50 pm. on Monday evening,causing disruption to metro services.
Metro staff immediately attempted a rescue,but the man could not be saved.Hebbagodi Police rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
As a safety measure,power supply to the affected stretch was temporarily suspended,and station controllers along with security personnel initiated emergency protocols.
The incident affected services on the Yellow Line,with metro operations restricted to the R.V. Road–Electronic City section for some time.
Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) advised commuters to plan their travel accordingly and stated that efforts were underway to restore normal services.The corporation also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
During the incident,security personnel reportedly did not allow media representatives inside the metro station and closed the station shutters as journalists arrived.
Following the completion of preliminary procedures, Metro staff and Hebbagodi Police recovered the body from the tracks.
It was shifted by ambulance to the mortuary at St.John’s Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Hiremath, aged between 30 and 35,a native of Raichur district in Karnataka.
According to preliminary information,he had previously worked with a private news channel’s English YouTube platform and had left the organization several months ago.
Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.Authorities have not officially confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident,and further investigation is underway.
