A property dispute between siblings allegedly turned violent in Bengaluru Rural district after a 32-year-old woman accused her brother and his associates of attempting to kill her,trespassing into her house, assaulting two men,vandalising property and issuing death threats on Friday.
Based on a complaint filed by Divya (32),a resident of Mylasandra village,the Bannerghatta police have registered an FIR against her brother Suman,his three unidentified friends and his wife Pavithra.
According to the complaint,Divya was married to Arjun V about 10 years ago and has been embroiled in a dispute with her parental family over ancestral property in Kittiganur.
She alleged that Suman had been repeatedly pressuring her to sign a release deed relinquishing her share in the property and had threatened to kill her if she refused.
The complainant stated that around 9.30 pm on July 24, Suman,accompanied by three associates,allegedly entered the compound of her house at Mylasandra near Durga Parameshwari Temple and demanded that she sign the release deed.
When she refused,the accused allegedly abused and threatened to kill her and her husband.
She further alleged that Suman attempted to attack her and her husband with a long (machete),but they managed to escape.
Two men,Baira Ram Choudary (50) and Roshan Selvam (19),who came to intervene,allegedly sustained bleeding injuries after being attacked with the weapon.
The complainant said she and her family locked themselves inside the house,following which the accused allegedly damaged the front door and window panes with machetes.
They also allegedly vandalised a scooter and a SUV parked outside the house.
Before fleeing in a car,the accused allegedly threatened to eliminate her family if she did not relinquish her claim over the property and also took away Roshan’s mobile phone,the complaint states.
Police have registered a case under Sections 189(2), 191(2),191(3),331,118(2),351(2),352,324,190,49 and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Further investigation is underway.
