Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has raised his voice against the injustice and betrayal faced by lakhs of students.
The arrest of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi while they were protesting peacefully was unlawful.The Union Government is making such attempts to silence Rahul Gandhi’s voice.
However,our voice and struggle in support of the youth will continue,Deputy Chief Minister,Dr.G.Parameshwara said.
Speaking to the media in Tumakuru today,he said Rahul Gandhi had demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over the issue.
“When those in power commit serious lapses, it is natural to demand their resignation.Dharmendra Pradhan must accept responsibility and resign.
In the past,Union Ministers have resigned following incidents such as railway accidents,”he said.
Responding to a media questionon Cabinet expansion, Dr.Parameshwara said the party’s leaders had travelled to Delhi and would take a decision after holding discussions with the High Command.The Cabinet will be expanded with their approval,”he said.
Responding to the demand for another ministerial berth for Tumakuru district,he said,“Tumakuru is a large district. I have also expressed the view that it should be given another ministerial berth.”
Answering a question on drought management, the Deputy Chief Minister said he would visit Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts today.
“On Saturday,the Chief Minister and I will review the drought situation in the Bengaluru division at Chitradurga.A review of the Mysuru division will also be conducted shortly,”he said.
He further said the situation was extremely serious and that signs of drought were emerging on a large scale.
“We have sought assistance from the Union Government and requested it to relax the norms for declaring drought.
The Chief Minister and I have also written letters in this regard.However, we have not received any response from the Union Government so far,”he said,expressing displeasure.
Responding to the proposal to establish an international airport in Tumakuru,Dr.Parameshwara said he had consistently supported the idea from the beginning.
“For the past 25 years, we have been expressing the view that the airport should be established in Tumakuru. Several locations,including Bidadi,have already been identified.It would be highly beneficial if the airport were established in Tumakuru,”he said.
