A 28-year-old carpenter allegedly strangled his wife to death before dying by suicide at their rented house in Channammanakere Achukattu in south Bengaluru on Thursday.
Police suspect prolonged domestic discord led to the murder-suicide.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj (28) and his wife Sapna,natives of Azamgarh,Uttar Pradesh,who had been married for three years and were living in a rented house in Bengaluru.
The incident came to light after neighbours grew suspicious and alerted the police.Officers forced open the door and found the couple dead inside the house.
Preliminary investigation suggests Manoj allegedly used a dog leash to strangle Sapna before taking his own life.
The Channammanakere Achukattu police,along with the Scene of Crime (SOCO) team,inspected the spot and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the murder-suicide.
