A 25-year-old private school teacher allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Bengaluru’s Kamakshipalya police station limits.
Before her death,she reportedly left a note blaming her husband and sister-in-law for persistent harassment.
The deceased has been identified as Shwetha (25),a native of Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district.She was working as a teacher at a private school and was living with her husband’s family at Sunkadakatte in Bengaluru.
Senior officer told reporters that Shwetha had married Murthy,a native of Kunigal, about four months ago after the two were in a relationship.
The couple had initially lived in Lakshman Nagar near Hegganahalli Cross before moving to Sunkadakatte with the husband’s family.
He further said Shwetha allegedly died by suicide around 11 pm on Sunday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.
In the purported suicide note addressed to her mother, Shwetha alleged that her husband and sister-in-law had subjected her to continuous mental harassment.
She wrote that she no longer wished to live and urged her mother not to forgive those responsible for her death.She also sought forgiveness from her mother.
Shwetha’s mother,Pushpa,alleged that her daughter had been physically and mentally harassed by her husband on a daily basis.
She claimed the family had also demanded additional money despite the marriage being conducted according to their wishes.
According to her,Shwetha had repeatedly called home saying she could no longer endure the harassment.The family had advised her to leave the house and stay elsewhere temporarily,but before that could happen,she allegedly took the extreme step.
Kamakshipalya police with senior officials visited the scene of crime,recovered the alleged suicide note,and registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s family.Further investigation is underway.
