Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today warned of strict action against officials showing negligence in managing the drought situation in the State.
Speaking at the Kalaburagi division-level progress review meeting,the first in North Karnataka,the CM said he would not tolerate officials who fail to work in the interest of the people.
“Inclusive,clean governance,development,and ensuring civic rights reach even the last person are the key goals of my government.
To achieve this goal,the officer class must function in a highly proactive, people-oriented,and responsible manner,” he said.
“I am a believer in the principle of equality of Sharanas. That is precisely why I began my first North Karnataka tour from Basavakalyana. Equality, social justice, and development must proceed at the same pace,” he said.
Expressing gratitude for the unprecedented support, love, and trust shown by the people of Bidar and Kalaburagi districts,he said,
“The trust the people have placed in us has increased our responsibility.It is the duty of all of us to work in line with the expectations of the people who have put us in this position.”
Sharing his administrative experience, he gave officials a clear message:
I started my career as president of a taluk panchayat and have crossed every stage up to the post of Chief Minister.
Because of this,I know very well what happens at every level of administration.I am not prepared to hear any excuses on development matters.What matters to me is results.”
“If your performance is good,it will amount to repaying the debt owed to the people of the State.But if you fail to work in the people’s interest,it will become unavoidable for me to take action against you,”he warned.
Referring to SIR,the Chief Minister said,”Not even a single eligible voter should lose their right to vote.Politics does not matter here,protecting every citizen’s right to vote is the government’s responsibility.
BLOs must visit every household at least three times and monitor whether the names of eligible voters are being retained.There is no question of compromise on this matter,”he directed.
Speaking on the state’s development and water management, he said,”There is concern in the country about the shortage of rainfall.
The situation in the State is satisfactory. With the aim of finding a permanent solution to inter-state water disputes,we have held historic-level discussions with the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,along with union ministers.
The Central government has also responded positively to the proposal to continue the Krishna,Kaveri,and Godavari river-linking project at a cost of about one lakh crore rupees.
Rising above political differences,we have decided to work together,prioritizing the protection of the interests of the people of the state,he said.
“All development works initiated during the tenure of the Siddaramaiah-led government will continue as they are.
Along with that, greater priority will be given to speed, transparency,efficiency,and a people-centric approach in governance,”he said.
“There should be no problem whatsoever in filling lakes and ensuring proper distribution of fertilizers. I have given clear instructions to the Deputy Commissioners regarding this.”
Speaking in the meeting,Devadurga JDS MLA Karemma Nayak appreciated CM’s efforts saying,”You have been acting in a non-partisan manner on development matters.You deserve appreciation for this.”
