The Yeshwanthpur Traffic Police on Tuesday have detained six people, including four minors, after a viral video showed a group of motorcyclists performing wheelies on a public road and allegedly blocking the path of an ambulance.
According to the complaint filed by Bheemappa Jattennavar,Constable of Yeshwanthpur traffic police station,the incident occurred at around 2.30 am on July 4 near the MEI Junction in Yeshwanthpur.
The accused are minors except two were riding motorcycles .
They allegedly performed wheelies and other dangerous manoeuvres,disrupting traffic and preventing an ambulance heading toward hospital for an emergency medical care .
Based on a complaint lodged by the ambulance driver, the Yeshwanthpur Traffic Police swung into action and based on the CCTV footage zeroed in on one of the accused,a 17-year-old who was riding pillion and recording the video.
Based on his information the police detained five others and seized the bikes.The accused are working in garage, coffee vending shop and fish mart .
One among them is a student.The police have summoned the owner of the bikes for questioning and for further legal action while the accused have been handed over to JJ board for counselling .
The accused confessed that they were wheeling for many days and caught while doing stunts in front of the ambulance,which went viral on social media .
