Bihar Man Arrested for Murder of West Bengal Woman in Bengaluru

Bommanahalli Police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Bihar for allegedly murdering a woman from West Bengal who was living alone in the city.

The accused has been identified as Sanjeev Paswan (35), a native of Bihar.

The victim,Krishna Barman (40),was originally from West Bengal.

Though married,she had separated from her husband and was living alone in a rented room at Muniyappa Layout in Hongasandra.

Krishna worked as a domestic help in an apartment and was also employed at a garment factory.Paswan,who lived in the same locality and worked as a daily wage labourer,was known to her and frequently visited her residence.

Senior officer told reporters that on June 28,Paswan visited Krishna’s house but she did not open the door.He returned later,picked a quarrel with her on suspicion over personal issues,allegedly gagged her by stuffing a cloth into her mouth and fatally assaulted her on the head with a small LPG cylinder before fleeing the scene.

The crime came to light when neighbours noticed the door partially open and received no response from inside.

They alerted the house owner,who called the police through the 112 emergency helpline.

A team from Bommanahalli Police Station inspected the spot, registered a murder case,and launched an investigation.

Based on the probe,police tracked down and arrested Paswan.Further investigation is underway.
