Sanjaynagar Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly sending a hoax bomb threat email to the headquarters of Indian Space Research Organisation in Bengaluru.
The accused,identified as Vishal Tyagi,is a resident of Ghaziabad.
Acting on a complaint filed by an ISRO administrative officer,the Sanjaynagar Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police traced the threatening email to Ghaziabad, travelled to Uttar Pradesh,and arrested the accused.An electronic device allegedly used to send the email has been seized for forensic examination.
During the investigation,police found that the accused is undergoing treatment at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences.Authorities said the investigation is continuing to ascertain the motive behind the hoax threat.
The bomb threat email,received by ISRO Headquarters on July 2,triggered an extensive security check. No explosive or suspicious object was found during the search,and the threat was subsequently declared a hoax.
Second Hoax Bomb Threat Targets ISRO Headquarters
For the second consecutive day, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru faced a bomb threat email,prompting evacuation and security checks.
On Friday morning,officials received an email written in Tamil claiming that a bomb had been planted on the campus. Police were immediately alerted and the building was evacuated as per standard operating procedure. Bomb disposal squads conducted a thorough search before declaring the threat a hoax.
Police said investigations are underway to identify the source of Friday’s email.
