In a major breakthrough in the sensational triple murder case reported in KR Puram, police have arrested the prime accused,24-year-old Shwetha, who allegedly murdered her parents and younger sister after they opposed her live-in relationship with her boyfriend Kenneth.

Kenneth remains absconding, and police have launched an intensive search to trace him.

According to police,Shwetha was arrested at a railway station in Puducherry after a coordinated operation by six special investigation teams.

She was brought back to Bengaluru for interrogation. Investigators believe her boyfriend Kenneth actively participated in the crime, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

During a search of the accused’s residence, police recovered a diary reportedly maintained by Shwetha.

Entries in the diary contained phrases such as“I am sad,” “I am lonely,”“Feeling low,” “I am depressed,”and “I am superior,” indicating emotional turmoil in the days leading up to the crime.

Police are examining the diary and other evidence collected from the apartment.

Shwetha and Kenneth reportedly met while pursuing B.Tech studies at a college in Bengaluru and later entered into a live-in relationship.

After completing their education, both worked for some time before quitting their jobs with plans to start a business.

Police said the duo allegedly obtained a loan of around Rs.30 lakh from a private bank using documents linked to Shwetha’s parents.

The parents reportedly came to know about the loan only after receiving notices from the bank regarding repayment defaults.

Investigators have also learned that Kenneth’s family was unaware that the couple had been living together. Kenneth’s father is employed with a public sector undertaking.

Shwetha and Kenneth had reportedly been living together for nearly two months in an apartment at Sai Green Homes in Dommasandra Layout.

Shwetha’s parents strongly opposed the arrangement and had recently visited her residence following concerns over the loan and her relationship.

According to the preliminary investigation, tensions escalated during a heated argument between Shwetha and her family on the evening of June 22.

Enraged by the confrontation,Shwetha allegedly attacked her mother and younger sister with a knife. Both died on the spot.

Her father,Somasekhar (55),who sustained severe injuries, managed to run out of the apartment and collapsed on the staircase.

Residents rushed him to hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the three victims—Somasekhar (55),his wife Muthulakshmi (48),and younger daughter Supriya (20)—sustained multiple stab injuries.Investigators estimate that the victims were stabbed more than 30 times during the attack.

After the murders,Shwetha and Kenneth allegedly fled the scene.

While Shwetha has now been arrested, police continue their search for Kenneth and are probing the exact sequence of events and his role in the crime.
