In a major breakthrough in the sensational KR Puram triple murder case,KR Puram police have arrested the prime accused,Shwetha,in Puducherry and are bringing her back to Bengaluru for detailed interrogation.

Her boyfriend Kenneth, who was allegedly with her at the time of the murders, remains absconding.

Shwetha was detained at the Puducherry Railway Station by a team of KR Puram police after an extensive manhunt.

Police sources said the couple fled together immediately after the murders but later split up and travelled separately.

“I Killed Them Because They Controlled My Life”
During preliminary questioning,Shwetha reportedly told investigators that she killed her mother,Muthulakshmi, because she believed her mother had controlled every aspect of her life.

The accused claimed that she was never allowed to live independently and blamed her mother for ruining her peace of mind and personal freedom.

“Whatever I did was wrong in her eyes.Wherever I went was wrong.Even sitting, standing or sleeping became an issue.

They took away my freedom and made me feel like an orphan despite having a family,”Shwetha reportedly told the police.

Police sources said Shwetha has claimed that she alone murdered her mother and later attacked her father and younger sister while her male friend helped her to clear the crime scene .

Mother Allegedly Killed First:

Police suspect the murder was premeditated.

According to the probe,Shwetha had called her mother Muthulakshmi and younger sister Supriya to her apartment a day before the murders.

The mother and daughter reportedly spent the entire day at the apartment, while Supriya returned to the family residence at Nallurahalli,Varthur, later that evening. Muthulakshmi, however, stayed back with Shwetha.

The next day, when family members were unable to contact either Muthulakshmi or Shwetha,Somasundar and Supriya visited the apartment.Police believe Muthulakshmi had already been murdered by then.

When Somasundar and Supriya questioned Shwetha about Muthulakshmi’s whereabouts, the accused allegedly lured them inside and attacked them with a knife .

Kenneth’s Role Under Scanner:

According to Shwetha’s statement,Kenneth was allegedly inside a room wearing headphones and was not directly involved when Muthulakshmi was attacked.

She has reportedly claimed that Kenneth came out only after the murder and helped her clean the apartment and move the body into a bathroom.

However police are suspecting she is misleading them with her statement to derail the probe, as from the dying declaration of Somasundar, who reportedly told police before his death that Kenneth had also stabbed him during the attack.

Police believe Kenneth’s arrest will be crucial in establishing the exact sequence of events and determining whether he was merely an accomplice after the crime or an active participant in the murders.

After the murder, the trio walked out of the apartment and took a scooter to escape. However the scooter was broke following which Kenneth asked her to board a bus alone .

Accused to Be Brought to Bengaluru:

A KR Puram police team remains in Puducherry completing legal formalities before transporting Shwetha to Bengaluru.

She is expected to arrive in the city by late afternoon. The Police are likely to subject her to sustained interrogation and reconstruct the crime scene to verify her claims.

Meanwhile, multiple teams continue to search for Kenneth, whose testimony is expected to play a crucial role in unraveling the full truth behind gruesome murder.
