A 20-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her live-in partner following a quarrel at their rented house in Malleswaram,within the jurisdiction of the Seshadripuram police station.
The deceased has been identified as Anusha N.D.(20), while the accused,Sharath (25),works as a water tanker driver. Both are natives of Sakleshpur and had reportedly been living together for the past six months after
becoming acquainted through social media.
Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred on Saturday when an argument broke out between the couple and escalated.
During the altercation,Sharath allegedly strangled Anusha to death.
The crime came to light on Sunday after Sharath reportedly informed a friend,who is a lawyer,about the
murder.The lawyer subsequently alerted the police.
Acting on the information,police rushed to the house and found it locked.
After noticing the key near a window,officers gained entry and discovered Anusha’s body inside.The body was shifted to Bowring Hospital for postmortem examination.
Police have arrested Sharath and taken him into custody for further questioning.The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be established,and an investigation is underway.
