Senior Journalist Demands Suspension of ASI for Alleged Misconduct Against Media Personnel

Senior journalist and Director of the International Council for Journalists, Binish Thomas, has strongly condemned the alleged misconduct by an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to the Ramamurthy Nagar police limits, accusing him of harassing journalists and obstructing them from discharging their professional duties.

According to Thomas,ASI Shivakumar allegedly used abusive language against media personnel and interfered with their work while they were on duty.

He said the officer’s conduct not only disrupted journalistic activities but also undermined the dignity and respect of journalists.

Demanding strict action,Thomas urged the government and police department to immediately suspend ASI Shivakumar from service.

He also called for adequate protection and safeguards for journalists carrying out their professional responsibilities.

Thomas further stated that he would submit a complaint regarding the incident to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar and Home Minister Priyank Kharge, seeking appropriate action against the officer.

The incident has sparked concern among members of the media fraternity,who have demanded accountability and protection for journalists in the line of duty.
