In another tragic road accident on Mysuru Road near Indraprastha Apartments in Kengeri,a speeding minivan overturned after ramming two-wheelers,killing one person and injuring six others on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred around 6.45 am,according to a complaint filed by Mallu (23), a fuel station employee and eyewitness. The vehicle was travelling from the RV College side towards Kengeri when the driver reportedly lost control at high speed.
The Echo minivan first collided with a scooter and a motorcycle moving ahead in the same direction.The impact triggered a chain reaction,causing the vehicle to veer off,overturn,and crash into an electric pole on the roadside.
Sukhdev (41),a resident of Marathahalli who was travelling in the van,was thrown out during the impact and fatally crushed when the overturned vehicle fell on him. He died while being shifted to hospital.
Six others sustained injuries,including Parejan,the scooter rider, who suffered severe head injuries and is in critical condition.
Ashoka and Rahul,who were riding the motorcycle, sustained multiple fractures.Two other occupants of the van, Abhijit and Bhagirath, were also injured,along with another passenger.All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest rash and negligent driving by the minivan driver,identified as Swaroop Chand (25),led to the accident.
He also sustained minor injuries.Kengeri Traffic Police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage, vehicle condition, and eyewitness accounts.Further investigation is underway. Police said efforts are on to identify further witnesses.
