The first-phase infrastructure blueprint and administrative framework for the ambitious PM MITRA Textile Park coming up in Kalaburagi have been finalized, and groundwork for the project will commence shortly, Karnataka’s Minister for Home,Information Technology, Biotechnology and District In-charge Minister of Kalaburagi,Priyank Kharge,said on Thursday.
Kharge chaired a review meeting at Vikas Soudha in Bengaluru to assess the progress of the textile park, which is being developed over 1,000 acres in its first phase near Kalaburagi.

The minister said the project would feature a world-class “plug-and-play”ecosystem aimed at enabling investors and textile units to commence production with minimal delay.
He emphasized that the park is being designed to attract large-scale investments and strengthen Karnataka’s position in the textile manufacturing sector.
According to officials,the first phase will focus on the development of core infrastructure,including land development works,internal road networks and a modern RCC drainage system to ensure efficient stormwater management across the industrial park.
The project will also include underground high-tension and low-tension power distribution networks and energy-efficient solar street lighting.
To meet industrial water requirements,a 5 lakh-litre Ground Level Service Reservoir (GLSR) will be constructed,along with a 10 lakh-litre Elevated Level Service Reservoir (ELSR) for supplying treated water.
Highlighting the project’s environmental sustainability measures, Kharge said a state-of-the-art Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) with a capacity of 2.5 MLD and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology will be established, supported by an integrated pipeline network.
The minister directed officials to ensure strict quality control and timely execution of all works.
The meeting was attended by Commerce and Industries Department Principal Secretary,Dr.Selvakumar S,Textiles Department Secretary,Rohini Sindhuri,Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board(KIADB) Chief, Executive Officer Govind Reddy and Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner,Mohammed Ikramulla Shariff,who participated virtually,among other officials.
