Man attacks In-Laws with machete after wife seeks Divorce in Bengaluru

A 55-year-old man and his wife were seriously injured after their son-in-law allegedly attacked them with a machete at an apartment in south Bengaluru’s Kumbalagodu area,reportedly enraged over his wife’s decision to seek divorce just three months after their marriage.

The injured have been identified as Syed Ahmed(55) and Nasreena Banu(48),who are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Police have arrested the accused,Farhan Mubarak,and launched further investigation into the case.

According to investigators,Farhan allegedly barged into his in-laws’ residence and attacked the couple with a machete,inflicting multiple injuries on their hands,legs, head and shoulders.

Police said the accused struck the victims more than 15 times during the assault.The incident came to light after CCTV footage of the attack surfaced.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Farhan had married Syed Ahmed’s daughter about three months ago.

However,the couple separated soon after the marriage, and the woman had reportedly filed a petition seeking divorce around four months ago.

Police said the accused had allegedly gone to the apartment intending to confront or attack his wife over the divorce proceedings.

Finding her absent,he allegedly turned his anger on his father-in-law and mother-in-law, attacking them with the machete.

A case has been registered at the Kumbalagodu Police Station,and further investigation is underway.
