A 20-year-old college student from Kerala has accused a realtor of molestation and attempted rape during a party in Bengaluru, alleging that repeated threats and violent assaults by the accused and his associates forced her to flee the city.
According to the FIR registered at Madiwala Police Station, the incident occurred on May 11 when the student, who studies at a private college and works part-time at a momos outlet, attended a party hosted by the cafe owners.
The accused, identified as Hainas,a native of Kerala and a real-estate broker assisting the brothers in selling their business, allegedly attacked her after the hosts briefly stepped out.
In a video statement, the victim alleged,“He forcibly did sexual activity. He tried to rape me.He literally pulled out all my dresses.”She claimed her friends intervened and rescued her, following which the accused allegedly threatened them with a liquor bottle and warned them against approaching the police.
The woman further alleged that on May 12,when she and her friends attempted to lodge a complaint at Madiwala Police Station, associates of the accused intimidated them outside the station.
On May 14,nearly nine men, allegedly led by an associate identified as Suresh, were seen loitering near her workplace.
On May 15,Suresh and a group of men allegedly barged into the residence of her acquaintances and assaulted them, leaving several injured.Fearing for her safety, the student said she fled to Kerala with a friend.
The victim also accused the police of moral policing instead of taking prompt action, alleging that officers questioned her“character and morality”rather than immediately registering an FIR.
Police later registered an FIR on May 18 against Hainas and his associates under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023, including Sections 62, 64,115(1), 118(1), 351(1), and 3(5).
