The Hebbagodi Police Station inspector and his team have busted an inter-state two-wheeler theft racket and arrested two accused involved in stealing vehicles, creating fake Registration Certificate (RC) cards,and selling them online.
Police recovered 51 stolen two-wheelers and seized 501 fake RC cards,with the total value of the haul estimated at ₹41.67 lakh.
Senior officer told reporters that the case came to light after a resident of Gollahalli lodged a complaint on January 4,2026,stating that his two-wheeler had been stolen from outside his house during the night.Based on the complaint,a case was registered and investigation was taken up.
Acting on credible information,police detained Chittappagari anand,32,near Veerasandra Lake on April 5 along with a stolen two-wheeler.
During interrogation, he confessed to multiple thefts across Bengaluru.He was produced before the court on April 6 and taken into police custody for 10 days.
Police said the accused revealed that he had links with an associate,Shaik shafir basha from Nandihal in Andhra Pradesh,who helped him create fake RC cards using a cyber centre.
The stolen vehicles were then advertised on Facebook and sold to unsuspecting buyers.Anand confessed that he would contact Shafir on phone after stealing the bike to get fake registered documents and offer him Rs.1,000 to get the job done.
Shafir would create the fake documents and send it to him by post,using which Anand would advertised the sale of bike on social media and sell them to gullible customers.
Based on the information,police conducted recovery operations between April 6 and April 14 and seized 51 two-wheelers from various locations,including Mulbagal, Chintamani and Hebbagodi.The recovered vehicles are collectively valued at Rs.41.67 lakh.
With the arrests,police have solved 27 cases registered across multiple police stations,including nine cases in Hebbagodi and others in Parappana Agrahara, Kamakshipalya,Madanayakanahalli,Kodigehalli, Anantapur Town,Bommanahalli,Varthur,Kengeri,Mico Layout,Kalasipalya,Anekal,KTG Nagar (Davanagere),and Perland in Tamilnadu.

Efforts are underway to trace the owners of the remaining vehicles.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a second accused on April 23 in Nandihal,who was involved in creating fake RC cards.
Police seized a computer,printer,three mobile phones, blank cards procured from Flipkart and Amazon,and 501 fake RC cards from his possession.
The accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
