A remarkable chapter in India’s adventure history was scripted at Swaraj Dweep in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands,as the nation’s largest tricolour flag was successfully unfurled deep beneath the sea,earning a place in the Guinness World Records.
Bengaluru-based adventure sports professional Sharath R.Ashok played an active role in this historic feat, bringing pride to Karnataka on the national stage.
Sharath R.Ashok has been actively engaged in the field of adventure sports for over a decade and brings with him extensive experience across multiple disciplines.

An automobile engineering graduate,he is a certified Dive Master and scuba instructor with international credentials.
Beyond underwater exploration,he is also a trained paraglider and paramotor pilot,and has demonstrated proficiency in motocross and mountaineering.
His diverse and rigorous training over the years enabled him to successfully take on the demanding challenge of this underwater mission.
The large-scale operation,conducted on May 2,saw the participation of over 200 skilled scuba divers from across the country.
Organised with the support of the Andaman & Nicobar administration and Indian defence forces,the mission involved unfurling a massive 60×40 metre (2,400 sq. metre) national flag beneath the sea,amidst strong currents and water pressure.
Recognising this extraordinary achievement,Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K.Joshi presented the team with the official Guinness World Records certificate.
Reflecting on the achievement,Sharath Ashok said:”The Indian tricolour is a symbol of the strength and unity of 1.4 billion Indians.
Adventure has always been my passion,and unfurling our national flag in the depths of the ocean is a moment of immense pride in my life.
My experiences in adventure sports and wildlife conservation have inspired me to be part of such a meaningful national effort.”
Sharath R.Ashok,son of Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly R.Ashok,has through this international accomplishment emerged as an inspiration to the youth of the state.
