Expedite Road Construction in the SWD Buffer Zone: Maheshwar Rao

Bengaluru:BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to expedite the construction of a road within the buffer zone of the SWD from Jakkur Road to the National Highway in Yelahanka Zone.

During his inspection of various locations in Yelahanka Zone earlier today,he emphasized that the area forms an important corridor connecting to the international airport.Therefore,he instructed officials to initiate necessary steps to develop alternative link roads.

A project has been proposed to construct a road within the buffer zone of the SWD stretching from Jakkur Road to the National Highway.

The Chief Commissioner instructed that the work must begin immediately and be completed swiftly.

Additionally,construction of a new approximately 15-meter wide SWD and road is underway from Yelahanka Kogilu Junction to Jakkur Lake.

He directed officials to examine the feasibility of linking this road through the Sewage Treatment Plant managed by the BWSSB near Jakkur Road and take appropriate action.

The GVK Group is constructing a hotel near Jakkur.In this context,officials were instructed to assess and report on the feasibility—along with pros and cons—of providing road connectivity from Jakkur Road,through the hotel site, to the National Highway.

He also called for the revival of an old Kalyani near the Raitha Santhe and to ensure it is filled with water. Furthermore,action should be taken to clear garbage dumped along the roadside and prevent future littering.

The Chief Commissioner instructed officials to properly develop the aeration walkway around Jakkur Lake.

*Expedite White-Topping Road Work:

A 2.5 km stretch of white-topping road is under construction on the Raitha Santhe Road in Jakkur.Of this, 500 meters have been completed so far.The remaining work must be completed without delay,he instructed.

*Complete Railway Overbridge Work Swiftly:

Construction of a railway overbridge near Jakkur is ongoing.However, the ramp works on both sides are yet to begin.The Chief Commissioner instructed that the ramp construction should be taken up immediately and completed at the earliest.

The inspection was attended by Special Commissioner Karigowda,Joint Commissioner,Mohammad Naeem Momin,Chief Engineer Ranganath,Dr.Raghavendra Prasad,and other senior officials.
