Centre removes Mughal-era history from syllabus;trend of changing the history of India continues

AbhijitRay,Kolkata:During this BJP era, there was a game of renaming towns and roads in different parts of the country like the Mughalsarai railway station. But this time it is no longer a scattered decision, the history of the Mughal era has been dropped directly from the Kendriya (Central) School syllabus. CBSE-affiliated schools, including central schools, army schools, and central schools, will no longer have this chapter in the class 12 syllabus. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has decided to remove it completely from the history books. This new syllabus is being introduced from the academic year 2023-24. It will also be applicable to the Uttar Pradesh Board. Allegations of changing history against the Modi government are not new. But this time they are being left out of the pages of the history book. The central government wants to complete the implementation of the unilateral decision to change the syllabus before implementing the new National Education Policy across the country. As a result, the chapter titled ‘Kings and Chronicles: The Mughal Courts is being removed from the history book of class 12.Not only history but even from the books of sociology and Hindi literature, several chapters are going to be dropped, which are simply against the saffron ideology. For example, there is no chapter on American influence in world politics (American Hegemony in World Politics) in the sociology book. Even the famous historical Cold War accounts of Russia and America (The Cold War Era) are being omitted. There will be no more ‘Politics of India after independence’.Not only class 12 but class XI was also not exempted. It has also been decided that chapters on ‘Central Islamic Lands’ or ‘Industrial Revolution’ will not be included in their syllabus. Of all these changes, however, the most notable is the name of the chapter in the syllabus of Class 10 and 11– ‘Democracy and Diversity’! Will democracy change in the days to come like history, like they had changed the  Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes?Leaving India Gate, the heart of Delhi, just in the middle, one road after another from the circular highway has run towards different parts of the capital city. The name of the road is Akbar Road, some are Copernicus Marg, Ashok Road, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, etc. One such street was suddenly renamed. It was called Aurangzeb Road. It has been renamed as APJ Abdul Kalam Road. The long-standing demand and position of the central government and the ruling party of the country has been to change the history of Islamic and colonial British rule in India since Mohammad Ghori’s conquest of Delhi. When the BJP was in power in Rajasthan, the school syllabus states that Rana Pratap was the winner of the Battle of Haldighat. Critics claim that this is being repeated at the national level this time. Many of eminent Professors and criticsare angry with the decision and they stated that “The Centre is trying to change the history of India. Is it possible to understand the history of India without the Mughal rule? They will start saying at some point that India’s history began in 2014 after Modi came to power.’
