The Koratagere police in Tumakuru district cracked the case of a brutal murder case of a 43-year-old woman and arrested her 47-year-old son-in-law,an Ortho dentist and two others on Monday .
The accused Dr.Ramachandriah S,resident of Honbaiahnapalya in Shira gate,Tumakuru town,along with two of his associates strangled Lakshmi Devi,in a car on the pretext of offering her drop,took the body to Arecanut farm,belonging to the accused Satish KN, chopped the body into pieces and dumped along the way to Mutyalamma temple in Chinpuganahalli in the outskirts of Koratagere on August 7.
The accused later went to Dharmasthala for a religious trip before passers-by noticed the body parts wrapped in plastic cover,dumped along the road side.
Superintendent of Police,Tumakuru district,KV Ashok, visited the spot and formed a special team which recovered 19 body pieces from in and around before identifying the deceased as Lakshmi Devi.
Following the leads,the police zeroed in on Satish farm where the body was cut into pieces and stuffed in plastic cover to disposed around the area.
Based on Satish Confession,the police arrested his cousin Kiran KS,a farmer by profession and Dr. Ramachandraiah,near Horanadu where he was returning from the religious trip after the crime.
Inquiry revealed that Ramachandraiah was married to Lakshmi Devi’s daughter few years ago after filing divorce case with his first wife .
Ramachandraiah accused his mother-in-law of having multiple affairs and also furious that he was instigating her daughter into illicit affairs .
He used to have frequent fight with Lakshmi Devi and unable to mend her ways, he decided to eliminate her , the officer said.
As part of the plan,he watched many crime series before selecting the most horrific way of committing the murder.
He roped in Satish,who worked as System administrator at a private firm and become close after he performed a surgery on Satish free of cost.The duo used to meet regularly and were walking partners .
Ramachandraiah discussed this with Satish and even offered him four lakh for the job.
Satish readily agreed and roped in his cousin,Kiran for the job.As per the plan,the accused bought a veil and waited in a car when Lakshmi Devi visited her daughter and returning home on August 4.
The accused confronted her and offered to drop her to the bus stand and strangled her to death in a moving car.
When Lakshmi Devi did not return home,her husband , Basavaraju searched for her and later filed a missing complaint with Bellavi police,which helped the police to identify her body based on the physical description.
Basavaraj later identified the body and the police followed the trail to track down,Satish,we have recovered 19 pieces of the body and some of them are still missing”,a senior police officer said adding that efforts are on to track down the body parts,based on Satish’s statement he added.
