An elderly couple sustained injuries and their house partially damaged in a mysterious blast that occurred inside their house situated in Hampinagar in Vijayanagar in the wee hours of Monday.
Residents in the adjacent house woke up with rude shock when their window panes shattered and cracked .
As the incident of mysterious blast was reported senior officers with fire tender rushed to spot even the gas agency people were called in to inspect the spot.
The elderly couple suffered a 40 percent burn injury on their body and were rushed to hospital and it is suspected that the gas leakage might be the incident for the blast.
Few residents rushed out and took the injured elderly couple identified as Suryanarayana Shetty, 74,and his wife Pushwathamma,70,to a near-by hospital for treatment.
household articles including the refrigerator,cot chairs and even slimming fan were damaged following by fire in the house.
The residents also doused the fire before the fire tenders rushed to the spot.
The police along with a team of electrical inspectors visited the spot for inspection.
The officials suspect that the blast was due to lpg gas leakage.However two cylinders kept in the house were found intact but the refrigerator was shattered into pieces.
The officials are further investigating the reason behind the blast while the Vijayanagar police have taken up a case for further investigation.
