CM Siddaramaiah holds the record for highest borrowing in Karnataka’s history:Bommai
The past two years have been financially dark days in the history of Karnataka. The only “achievement” of the state government in these two years has been borrowing Rs.2.5 lakh crore, said former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.
In a press release issued on the occasion of the state government completing two years,Bommai said that the government is entirely dependent on loans.
In addition to this,CM Siddaramaiah holds the distinction of imposing the highest taxes on petrol, diesel, excise, milk, water, garbage, and stamp duty.
Last year,he levied an additional Rs.40,000 crore in taxes. This year,an additional burden of Rs 60,000 crore in new taxes has been imposed on the people.
Development in the state has completely come to a halt. The government has not allocated funds for any irrigation projects, state highways,or housing schemes.
Matching grants for central funds have not been released.Under the guise of guarantees, the government has only pushed the poor into deeper poverty.
The government has become a curse for the common people. Instead of developing Karnataka, it has turned the state into a debt-ridden one, which is truly unfortunate.
People are now questioning the purpose of celebrating an “achievement meet. This is a development-deficient, anti-people, and utterly corrupt government, Bommai noted.
