The Baiyappanahalli police have arrested a two members of infamous Irani Gang and recovered 30 grams of gold valuables and a motorcycle total worth three lakh rupees from them.
The accused identified as R Hussain,53,and Tabrez,39.
Senior officer told reporters they used a stolen bike from Maharashtra to commit the chain snatching offences and had robbed 12 grams of gold chain from a woman in Sadananda Nagar on December 2024.
The accused had robbed another 18 grams of gold chain from a woman walking near a park in Krishnaiahapalya on January this year.
The police registered both the case and identified one of the accused and tracked him down at Dharwadi prison in Kalyan in Maharashtra where Hussain,was arrested and lodged .
The accused after committed a chain snatching in January 3 this year, went back to Maharashtra where he was arrested and remanded to judicial custody in a old case.
The Baiyappanahalli police took the accused into 10 days custody and a detailed inquiry led them to arrest Tabrez from a house in Bagepalli .
Based on his confession the police recovered the 12 grams gold chain from his mother’s house in Begur .
The accused according to the police are habitual offenders involved in as many as nine chain snatching cases in and around the city .
