Officials of the social welfare department on Thursday visited the family of the victim Siddaraju,who was tortured and beaten to death by his employer and his relative at a farm house in Huralahalli village accusing him of stealing tender coconuts on Jan 10.
The Assistant Director of the SWD along with his team, visited the house provided three months ration to the family as immediate relief and took stock of the situation to recommended suitable compensation to the family.
The official also recommended to provide a government job to Chethan HS,Son of the deceased and the complainant in the case .
The officials are collecting the details of the family members and waiting for the post mortem report to complete the formality before issuing suitable compensation to the victim,Deputy Director,SWD, Bengaluru district,in a report submitted to the commissioner of the SWD,said.
The Nelamangala Rural police based on the complaint arrested,Manjunath,34, and his brother-in-law Ravikumar,39,a journalist for allegedly torturing and beating up a 45-year-old,Siddaraju,Dalit labourer to death in an inebriated state at their farmhouse in Hurulihalli village in the outskirts of the city on Saturday.
Investigations revealed that Siddaraju had been working on Manjunath’s farm for six months without pay and the accused often humiliated and tortured him .
