Rape case booked against BJP party member,police on lookout for absconding accused

The Ashoknagar police have registered a case of rape and criminal intimidation against a BJP party member following a complaint filed by a 26-year-old private firm employee accusing him of raping her in his flat on the pretext of financial help in October last year.

The victim in her complaint said that she was introduced to the accused identified as Somashekhar through a common friend .

The victim said her marriage was fixed last year and she was needed money for the expenses.She sought the help of Somashekhar who assured to give her Rs.6 lakh.

In October the accused took her to his flat from her Paying Guest accommodation,forced her to drink liquor and later raped her .

He threatened her with dire consequences and defame her.The victim fearing this did not inform anyone but later revealed her ordeal with friends and relatives before approaching the police.

Somashekhar,according to the police had contested from Sakaleshpur assembly constituency from BJP ticket in 2018. The accused is presently absconding a manhunt is on said senior officer.
