NIA raids 40 locations in Coimbatore & Mangaluru blast probes,seizes digital devices

he NIA on Wednesday carried raids on three States including Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka related to terror cases and confiscated incriminating documents.

Several teams of NIA carried searches at multiple locations in Tamilnadu,Kerala and Karnataka in Coimbatore Car Bomb Blast and Mangaluru Blast Cases conducted searches at 32 locations in Tamilnadu,Kerala .

Houses of suspects were searched on the basis of investigational findings at 32 locations in the districts of Coimbatore,Trichy,Nilgiris,Tirunelveli,Tuticorin, Chennai,Thiruvannamalai,Dindigul,Mayiladuthurai, Krishnagiri,Kanyakumari and Tenkasi of Tamilnadu, Ernakulam of Kerala and 8 such locations in the districts of Tiruppur and Coimbatore of Tamilnadu, Ernakulam of Kerala and Mysuru of Karnataka.

The case relates to a bomb blast in a car laden with explosives in front of Kottai Eswaran Temple of Coimbatore District.

The accused,Jamesha Mubeen after swearing Bayath (allegiance) to ISIS was planning to carry out a suicide attack on October 2022 and cause extensive damage to the temple Complex with the intention to strike terror among a section of the society.

The case relates to a Pressure Cooker bomb and improvised explosive device (IED) blast that took place in a moving auto-rickshaw in Mangaluru City,Karnataka State on November 2022,while the accused was carrying the bomb for planting it in a public place.

This case was initially registered as FIR at PS Kankanady,Mangaluru,Karnataka,and re-registered by NIA on November 2022.

Searches conducted today have led to seizure of a large number of digital devices and cash amounting to 4 lakh rupees in the 2 cases.

Further investigations in these 2 cases are in progress.
