A review meeting on the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls under the jurisdiction of the Additional District Election Officer, Bengaluru Central,was held at the Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall on M.G.Road under the chairmanship of V. Anbukumar,Chief Electoral Officer,Karnataka,in the presence of the Commissioner of Bengaluru Central City Corporation.
Addressing the meeting,the Chief Electoral Officer instructed officials to complete the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) transparently,accurately and within the stipulated timeline,in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
*Key directions issued by Chief Electoral Officer,V. Anbukumar during the meeting:
*Conduct the SIR exercise without causing inconvenience to the public.
He directed officials to ensure that no eligible or genuine voter is left out of the electoral roll,that the public does not face any inconvenience during the process,and that the exercise is completed transparently within the prescribed timeline.
*Work in teams to expedite the SIR exercise:
Officials were instructed to work as coordinated teams to complete the SIR exercise accurately within the stipulated period.
He said that mutual coordination would help complete the exercise more quickly while maintaining quality and accuracy.
*Accurate verification of Absent,Shifted,Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) cases is essential.
During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the identification of Absent,Shifted and Dead voters must be carried out with utmost care.
In the case of deceased voters,a death certificate must be obtained.If it is unavailable,a mahazar should be prepared with the signatures of neighbours or Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
*Treat BLOs with respect and patience:
BLOs play a vital grassroots role in the successful implementation of the SIR exercise.Senior officials and Electoral Registration Officers were instructed to treat BLOs with patience and respect while ensuring their full cooperation in successfully completing the exercise.
*Release pending honorarium to BLOs immediately:
The Chief Electoral Officer directed all Electoral Registration Officers under the jurisdiction of the Additional District Election Officer (Central) to immediately release the pending honorarium due to all BLOs who have been working tirelessly by visiting households for the distribution and collection of SIR forms.
*Digitise only forms bearing signatures:
Before digitising voter forms,officials must ensure that both the voter’s signature and the BLO’s signature are present.Forms without the required signatures must not be digitised and will be treated as invalid.
*Contact voters by telephone in advance to facilitate house-to-house visits:
Addressing the review meeting,Jagadeesh G, Commissioner,Bengaluru Central City Corporation, instructed all officials to perform their duties with greater responsibility,coordination and efficiency to complete the SIR exercise within the stipulated timeline.
He also directed officials to contact voters over the phone before making house-to-house visits and inform them in advance about their visit.
Further,he requested citizens to keep their Enumeration Forms duly filled and ready, which would help ensure that the house-to-house verification process is completed smoothly and quickly.

Speaking after the meeting,Jagadish G,Commissioner, Bengaluru Central City Corporation,instructed officials to carry out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) strictly in accordance with the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer and the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The meeting was attended by Raghavendra V.,Joint Chief Electoral Officer;Ranganath K.,Additional Commissioner (Revenue);Hemanth Sharan,Joint Commissioner;Deputy Commissioners Srinivas and Abdul Rab;Revenue Officers;the Election Tahsildar; Assistant Revenue Officers;and other officials.
