With the objective of reducing increasing traffic congestion at major junctions within the Bengaluru East City Corporation limits and ensuring safe and seamless movement of traffic,Commissioner,D.S.Ramesh,along with Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy,conducted joint inspections at several key traffic junctions.
During the inspection,the Commissioner reviewed various proposals relating to road infrastructure development,underpass construction,road widening,free left turns,skywalks,buffer road development,and the shifting of utilities belonging to different departments.
Necessary directions were issued to the concerned officials to implement long-term solutions for easing traffic congestion.
*Expedite Underpass Work at Hope Farm Junction:
Inspecting the ongoing underpass construction at Hope Farm Junction,one of the busiest traffic intersections in the city,the Commissioner directed officials to remove all pending obstacles without delay so that the project can be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He instructed the concerned agencies to immediately relocate the GAIL gas pipeline,BESCOM electrical network,transformer poles,and other utilities obstructing the project.
The contractor was also directed to accelerate the construction by deploying three work shifts to ensure speedy completion.
The Commissioner further instructed officials to carry out temporary asphalting of damaged stretches caused by the construction to facilitate smooth traffic movement.
Coordination with the Traffic Police was also directed to provide alternate traffic diversions wherever necessary, ensuring minimum inconvenience to commuters.
*Feasibility Study for Railway Underpass at Alpine Eco Road:
The Commissioner inspected the road connecting Alpine Eco Road to the Outer Ring Road service road and observed that motorists are forced to take a longer route,leading to unnecessary traffic congestion.
To provide a permanent solution,officials were instructed to conduct a technical feasibility study for constructing a railway underpass.
The concerned departments were also directed to prepare a detailed report on land ownership,survey details,and land acquisition requirements for the proposed project.
*Skywalk and Free Left Turn at Marathahalli Junction:
At Marathahalli Junction,the Commissioner inspected the proposed location for constructing a skywalk to ensure the safe movement of pedestrians crossing from HAL Road.
He also reviewed the feasibility of providing a free left turn for vehicles moving from Varthur Kodi towards the Outer Ring Road and instructed officials to undertake the necessary technical studies for its implementation.
*Buffer Road Development Along Thubarahalli–Vibgyor School Road:
The Commissioner inspected the narrow Thubarahalli–Vibgyor School Road,where heavy traffic congestion is frequently experienced.
He stated that B-SMILE is currently preparing the Detailed Project Report for the proposed buffer road parallel to the existing road and informed that necessary steps would be taken to implement the project at the earliest to ease traffic movement.
*Road Widening at Panathur S-Cross:
The Commissioner inspected the traffic bottleneck near the railway underpass at Panathur S-Cross and held discussions with officials regarding road widening by acquiring the required private land at the turning point to provide a direct road connection.
Officials were instructed to submit an early report on land acquisition requirements and the technical feasibility of the proposal.
*Proposal for Free Left Turn at Bhoganahalli Road:
At the Bhoganahalli Road junction,the Commissioner instructed officials to examine the feasibility of providing a free left turn to facilitate smoother traffic flow and reduce congestion.
He directed the concerned officers to conduct a detailed technical assessment and prepare an implementable proposal.
*Emphasis on Coordinated Efforts to Improve Traffic Flow:
Speaking during the inspection,Commissioner D.S. Ramesh said that permanent infrastructure solutions to reduce traffic congestion at major junctions in Bengaluru East would be implemented through close coordination among the Bengaluru East City Corporation,Traffic Police,BESCOM, GAIL,Indian Railways,and other utility agencies.
He emphasized that providing citizens with a safe, efficient,and hassle-free transportation network remains one of the Corporation’s top priorities and instructed officials to continuously monitor project progress through regular field inspections to ensure timely completion of all works.
The inspection was attended by Joint Commissioner of Police,Karthik Reddy,Additional Commissioner (Development),Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar,Deputy Commissioner of Police,Sahil Bagla,Chief Engineer, Lokesh M,officials from the TDR Division,and officers from various departments.
