A 25-year-old printing press employee allegedly ends life after consuming a mixture of rat poison,ink and alcohol at his residence under the Cottonpet Police Station limits on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Anand Kumar,who had reportedly been struggling with severe emotional distress following the death of his younger brother,Kiran, who died by suicide about two months ago.Kiran reportedly
ended life over a girl’s issue .
Senior officer told reporters that the brothers shared a close bond,and Anand found it difficult to cope with the loss.
Family members told the police that he frequently became emotional while remembering his brother and gradually developed symptoms of depression.They also said he had begun consuming alcohol regularly after the tragedy.
In an effort to help him recover,his parents had reportedly taken him to Mantralaya,hoping the visit would aid his emotional well-being.However,his condition did not improve,police said.
On Tuesday,Anand allegedly consumed a mixture of rat poison, ink and liquor at his residence.His family members noticed his deteriorating condition and immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital,where he later died despite treatment.
The body has been sent to Victoria Hospital for a post-mortem examination.The Cottonpet Police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident.
