The High Grounds Police in Bengaluru have registered an FIR against an X (formerly Twitter) account holder, Kiran Aradhya,for allegedly posting misleading and provocative content related to the recent Bantwal bus stand murder case.
The case was registered on July 18 under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023,based on a complaint filed by Kushal Haruve Gowda,Vice-President of the Bengaluru West District Congress Committee (DCC).
According to the complaint,the accused had posted on X on July 16:”Monster with wrist watch on his left hand, pants above his ankles,killed a girl at Bantwal bus stand, Karnataka.
He probably knows that even if they arrest him, Congress will quietly withdraw the case.Be that as it may just hope the RSS gets registered soon.”
The complainant alleged that the post was made without referring to any official investigation report,court order or evidence and falsely suggested that the Congress government would deliberately protect the accused.
The complaint further stated that such remarks could mislead the public,spread misinformation,and adversely affect public peace,communal harmony and law and order.
It was also alleged that the accused had previously shared similar baseless and provocative posts on social media.
Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
