A three-year-old tigress was found dead in an open field near a village lake at Gattavadi in Nanjangud taluk,under the Mysuru Forest Division, on Tuesday.
According to senior forest officials,preliminary findings suggest that the tigress, which was in an emaciated condition,may have died from severe injuries sustained during a territorial fight with another tiger active in the area.
Forest Department personnel,along with officers from Kavalande police station, rushed to the spot after local residents alerted the authorities about the carcass.
Forest officials conducted an on-site inspection and initiated standard procedures,including a post-mortem examination,to determine the exact cause and sequence of events leading to the tigress’s death.
