The Thalaghatpura police have arrested five men after a young woman alleged that she was gang-raped at a house in Maruthi Nagar in south Bengaluru after being lured there on the pretext of a meeting.
Senior officer told reporters that the victim,a resident of Devanahalli,received a phone call from the prime accused,Amaresh,at around 5 pm. on Friday.

Somashekhar,who works for a private security services agency,allegedly told her that his friends from Kalaburagi had come to Bengaluru and wanted to meet her.
The woman reached the location at around 7 pm. by a Rapido bike taxi.Police said she was acquainted with two of the five accused.
Investigators said the group spent some time together and consumed alcohol before the alleged assault took place.
During this time,Amaresh,one of the accused,allegedly raped the woman.Police are also investigating the role of the other four accused in the incident.
The victim managed to free herself and immediately dialled the 112 emergency helpline.A police patrol team rushed to the spot,rescued the woman and apprehended all five accused from the location.
The arrested accused include Amaresh,Somashekhar and three others.
The woman was shifted to a hospital for a medical examination,and the Talaghattapura police have registered a case.
The accused are being questioned,and further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and the role of each suspect.
Police said the final charges will be determined based on the victim’s statement,medical evidence and the findings of the ongoing investigation.
