Karnataka Minister for Urban Development, Dr.Yathindra Siddaramaiah,met Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs,Tokhan Sahu,at Kumara Krupa Guest House in Bengaluru on Thursday and urged him to expedite the release of the Rs.887 crore grant recommended by the 15th Finance Commission for the eligible Urban Local Bodies (excluding the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) for the financial year 2025–26.
The Minister informed that the Government of Karnataka has complied with all the conditions stipulated by the Government of India under the guidelines of the 15th Finance Commission.
He also pointed out that all the required documents sought by the Ministry have already been submitted.
Despite the State fulfilling all the prescribed conditions, the grant has not yet been released by the Central Government.
Dr.Yathindra Siddaramaiah highlighted that the delay in releasing the funds is adversely affecting developmental works undertaken by Urban Local Bodies and could hamper the timely implementation of critical infrastructure projects.

He stated that the release of the Rs.887 crore grant would enable Urban Local Bodies to effectively implement essential civic works,including drinking water supply,sanitation and cleanliness,solid waste management,basic urban infrastructure,and other critical public services.
Emphasising the need for sustainable urban development and the welfare of citizens in Karnataka, the Minister requested the Union Ministry to accord priority to the matter and ensure the early release of the pending Rs.887 crore grant.
Director of Municipal Administration,Mr. P. N.Ravindra, was also present during the meeting.
