A 62-year-old man who was running a rehabilitation centre was brutally murdered by a suspected inmate at the facility in Bengaluru on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shivalingaiah (62), who had been operating the rehabilitation centre for several years.
The incident was reported at a rehabilitation facility located in BCC Layout under the Chandra Layout police station limits.
According to preliminary information,the accused, believed to be an addict undergoing treatment at the centre,allegedly attacked Shivalingaiah with a deadly weapon and murdered him before fleeing from the spot.
Police suspect that the offence was committed by one of the inmates staying at the rehabilitation centre.
The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
Upon receiving information,Chandra Layout Police rushed to the scene,conducted an inspection,and initiated an investigation.Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.
A case has been registered at Chandra Layout Police Station,and further investigation is in progress.
