The Vijayapura Rural Police have cracked a case in which a complainant allegedly fabricated a gun attack and falsely implicated six villagers due to local rivalry.
Senior officer told reporters that a case was registered at the Vijayapura Rural Police Station on June 3, 2026, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act based on a complaint filed by Dayavant Dare,30,a farmer from Ittangihal Doddhi village.
In his complaint,Dayavant alleged that while he was in his agricultural field near Toravi village around 3 pm on June 3,two unidentified persons with their faces covered attacked him from behind and shot him in the right arm.
He further claimed that six named individuals were responsible for the incident.
Taking the case seriously,a special investigation team was formed under the supervision of senior officers, including DSP T.S.Sulpi,Inspector R.S.Janar,PSI,Vinod Doddamani and other staff of Vijayapura Rural Police Station.
During the investigation,police thoroughly examined the complaint and the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
The probe revealed that the incident was not an attack by unknown assailants as claimed.
Investigators found that Dayavant,along with Anand alias Anil Dheri (26) and Andiba Manavar (23),both residents of Ittangihal Doddhi, allegedly conspired to create a false shooting incident.
Officer further said there were minor disputes and animosity between them and the persons named in the FIR,prompting them to allegedly frame the rivals in a criminal case.
According to the investigation,the trio met at Anand’s agricultural land near Jalageri village on June 3.
Anand allegedly fired a country-made pistol at Dayavant’s right arm, causing a minor injury.
The complainant then allegedly staged a false crime scene and lodged a fabricated complaint accusing the six villagers of carrying out the attack.
Police have concluded that the accused intentionally created a false narrative,attempted to misuse the criminal justice system,and destroyed or fabricated evidence.
On June 18,police arrested Dayavant Dare,Anand alias Anil Dheri,and Andiba Manavar.The country-made pistol allegedly used in the incident has been seized.
All three accused have been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Lakshman Nimbargi,Superintendent of Police,Vijayapura district.
