The Lokayukta police on Tuesday trapped a senior health inspector of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) while allegedly accepting a bribe for issuing a trade licence to a pharmacy owner.
According to Lokayukta officials,the accused,Shrijesh N.K. 52,a Senior Health Inspector attached to the Chikpet division at Sajjan Rao Circle,had allegedly demanded Rs.15,000 from a pharmacy owner for processing and issuing a trade licence.
The complainant,Nanjegowda B.S.41,who runs a pharmacy business in Devarachikkanahalli, approached the Lokayukta alleging that the official had sought a bribe.
Officials said the accused had already accepted Rs.5,000 on June 15 and demanded the remaining amount.
Based on the complaint,the Lokayukta registered a case under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and laid a trap.
The accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the remaining Rs.10,000 from the complainant.

He has been arrested under PC act and further investigation is on.
