A shocking matrimonial fraud case has come to light in Karnataka where a man allegedly posed as a PhD holder and doctor on matrimonial websites and cheated more than ten women from Bengaluru and Mysuru of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of marriage.
The accused, identified as Pradeep Solomon, along with his mother Kalavathi, has been booked by the Adugodi Police in Bengaluru.
The mother-son duo is currently absconding fearing arrest.
Senior officer told reporters that Pradeep created fake high-profile accounts on matrimonial platforms under the name“Dr.Pradeep Solomon,”falsely claiming to be a PhD graduate and doctor.
Investigators said his mother allegedly assisted him in executing the fraud.
The duo had reportedly rented a luxurious bungalow in Mysuru and projected themselves as wealthy and influential people.
During investigation it was found that they used the lavish lifestyle and bungalow setup to impress families searching for marriage alliances.
After gaining the trust of the victims and their families, Pradeep allegedly claimed that a huge amount of his money was “stuck”in the bank due to technical reasons and sought urgent financial help, assuring them the amount would soon be repaid.
Believing his claims,a wealthy Bengaluru-based family recently transferred lakhs of rupees to him, only to realise later that they had been cheated.Soon after receiving the money, the accused and his mother allegedly disappeared.
Several women and their family members from Mysuru and Bengaluru who claim to have been cheated by Pradeep have now approached police and gathered outside the rented bungalow in Mysuru seeking justice.
Meanwhile,Adugodi Police have launched a massive search operation over the past two days to trace the absconding duo.
A special police team has been formed to track down and arrest the accused.
