The Madanayakanahalli Police have registered a case against a 43-year-old Nigerian national for allegedly assaulting security personnel at a Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) holding facility in Sondekoppa village, on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Thursday .
The accused has been identified as Kelvin Chigoeke James,who was lodged at the KSISF Foreigners Detention/Restriction Centre (FRC) following orders issued by the FRRO, Bengaluru.
According to the complaint filed by Police Inspector Balagandhar K of the KSISF FRC Unit,the incident occurred on the night of April 29 around 10:55 pm.
The accused,who had been escorted to the restroom, allegedly turned aggressive while being brought back to his room.
Police said Kelvin suddenly brandished a knife and threatened the on-duty personnel, shouting,“I will kill you, b***.
Uniforms my foot,”and used abusive language.He reportedly attempted to attack the staff and refused to cooperate.
Additional personnel,including an Assistant Sub-Inspector and other staff members,rushed to the spot and managed to disarm him after a struggle.During the incident,one officer sustained minor injuries after being pushed.
Despite being restrained,the accused allegedly continued issuing death threats and later attempted to attack officials again using stones and water sump lid in January this year .
Following the incident,KSISF authorities informed the FRRO and lodged a formal complaint. Based on this, Madanayakanahalli Police registered a case under Sections 132, 115(2), 118(1), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is on to ascertain on how the accused sources the knife which is prohibited in the centre.
In a simlar incident,the High grounds police have arrested a 23-year-old woman for assaulting woman police officer at the station aduing questions at the station on Saturday night .
The accused according to Lakshmi,woman police Sub Inspector,the accused later identified as Taniya Dhila, was found creating ruckus at Shangrila hotel in an inebriated state on saturday night .
The accused was shouting and behaving aggressively. Despite repeated attempts to calm her down and ascertain her identity,she refused to cooperate and continued creating a scene.
She was then brought to the police station with the assistance of women police personnel for further inquiry.
Police suspected that she was under the influence of alcohol and sent her for a medical examination.
Medical tests confirmed that she had consumed alcohol,with reports indicating she was THC positive.
During questioning at the station,the woman allegedly turned violent.She reportedly attacked a police officer by kicking and scratching, causing bleeding injuries.
When other staff intervened,she also assaulted them—biting one woman constable on the hand and kicking others.
Police said she used abusive language and obstructed officials from discharging their duties.
Based on the complaint,a case has been registered against the accused for assaulting public servants and obstructing duty.
