Following sudden heavy rain and strong winds that lashed the city, normal life in Bengaluru was disrupted on Wednesday, with several arterial and sub-arterial roads affected due to fallen trees and waterlogging.
According to traffic police officials, multiple low-lying areas across the city were inundated, leading to slow-moving traffic and congestion during peak hours.
Authorities have warned that with more rain expected later in the evening, road conditions may deteriorate further.
Commuters have been advised to exercise caution while travelling.
Officials urged motorists to drive at reduced speeds, especially in areas where roads have been damaged due to continuous rainfall.
Extra care has been recommended in waterlogged stretches to avoid accidents.
The police also appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain.
Citizens have been cautioned against taking shelter under trees due to the risk of falling branches.
Additionally, motorists have been requested not to stop or park vehicles in underpasses,as it hampers the smooth movement of traffic and can lead to further congestion.
For real-time updates on traffic congestion and related incidents, the public has been advised to follow the Bengaluru Traffic Police social media handles and mobile application.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police stated that all necessary precautionary measures have been put in place to manage the situation and ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities by adhering to the issued guidelines.
