Biker Killed For Accidentally Touching Car Mirror In Bengaluru’s Puttenahalli,Accused couple arrested by Puttenahalli police

The Puttenahalli police have arrested a 34-year-old Martial art trainer and his wife for murdering 24-year-old gig worker over a minor road rage incident which turned fatal after a scooter he was riding touched the car at Srirama Layout in Puttenahalli on Saturday night .

While Darshan,a food delivery executive was killed on the spot his friend Varun G,riding pillion sustained severe injuries.

Initially the JP Nagar Traffic police have registered a case of hit and run but after verifying the CCTV footage , they confirmed it was a planned murder and track down the accused,Manoj Kumar and his wife Aarti Sharma, 30 .

Senior officer told reporters that around 11:30 pm on October 25,when the scooter the Darshan and Varun riding allegedly brushed against a car’s side mirror, breaking it.

Manoj,who runs a fitness centre and teaching marital arts academy in Gottigere was returing home with his wife in a car which was recently serviced .

The duo after colliding with the car began to flee fearing backlash.

In a fit of rage,the accused allegedly chased the bikers for nearly two kilometers before ramming their vehicle into the two-wheeler.

The impact threw both riders—Darshan and Varun—onto the road,leaving them severely injured.

Passers-by rushed both the injured to a near-by hospital, but Darshan was declared brought dead while Varun is under treatment.

During the probe,police found that the accused couple, who were returning home at the time,had confronted the bikers after the mirror broke.

When the bikers reportedly hit the mirror intentionally, the enraged couple followed them,made a U-turn,and rammed the vehicle deliberately,causing the fatal crash.

After the collision,the accused fled the scene but later returned,masked,to collect broken car parts to cover up the crime before escaping again.

Following a detailed investigation,Puttenahalli Police registered a murder case and arrested Manoj Kumar and Aarti Sharma.

The duo has been arrested booked under murder and destruction of evidence for further investigations,DCP, South Division,Lokesh Jagalasar,said .
