Hours after Director General of Prisons and correctional services,Malini Krishnamurthy,superannuated on Thursday,the state government appointed B.Dayananda to head the prison department with the downgraded post .
Along with Mr.Dayananda,who is now Additional Director General of Prisons and Correctional services,the government in its order also posted Shekhar HT,as Superintendent of Police,Intelligence,Bengaluru to the vacant post.
The government also revoked the suspension of Vikash Kumar Vikash and reinstated him for the vacant post of , Inspector General of Police, Internal security Division.
Dayananda was among five police officers suspended by the Karnataka government following a stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed 11 people on June 4 .
Taking serious note and lapses on part of the city police, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, ordered suspension of Dayananda and his team who were in-charge of the stadium security .
The government is also ordered the CID to probe the incident in detail,which is pending inquiry .
Vikash Kumar Vikash challenging his suspension before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which revoked the order and observed that the government should extend similar relief to the other officers.
The government has challenged the CAT order in the High Court,which is pending before the high court .
The government ordered two probes led by Bengaluru urban DC,G.Jagadeesha and Justice John Michael D’Cunha’s who recommended reports,based on which the Cabinet on Thursday (July 24, 2025) decided to initiate legal action against IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB),the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA),and event management company DNA Network.
