The Jayanagar police have registered an FIR against two alleged BJP Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and others for allegedly submitting fraudulent Form-7 applications seeking deletion of the names of 5,698 voters from the electoral rolls in the Jayanagar Assembly constituency.
The FIR, registered on October 5 based on a complaint by former Jayanagar MLA and Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sowmya Reddy,names Ramakrishna (A1) and Yogesh (A2) as accused, besides other unidentified persons.
According to the FIR,the alleged irregularities occurred between June 16 and October 5, 2026,during the electoral-roll revision process.
Form-7 applications were allegedly submitted claiming that 5,698 voters had permanently shifted from the constituency.
The applications covered 54 voters in Pattabhiramanagar (Ward 165), 525 in Byrasandra (Ward 169),719 in Jayanagar East (Ward 170),4,327 in Gurappanapalya (Ward 171),and 82 in J.P. Nagar, Sarakki and Shakambarinagar (Wards 177, 178 and 179).
Reddy alleged that the applications disproportionately targeted voters belonging to minority communities and other sections perceived to be politically unfavourable to the BJP and its allies.
The complaint further alleged that the identity details and voter IDs of C.Ramesh and his wife Roopa were used to submit Form-7 applications without their knowledge or consent.
Some applications allegedly contained forged signatures and were submitted to BLO Lokesh at the election office in Jayanagar 4th Block.
Based on the complaint,Jayanagar police registered a case under Sections 61(2)(b), 217(b), 319(2), 336(2), 340(2), read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have taken up an investigation into the allegations,including the authenticity of the applications, signatures and the identities of those who submitted them.
