A 60-year-old man running a household goods shop was allegedly beaten to death by his distant relative following a dispute over the latter’s demand to set up a separate shop in JP Nagar on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Rajusingh,who had been residing in Bengaluru for nearly 30 years and running the shop at Ganga Industries in JP Nagar 7th Phase.
Senior officer told reporters that the accused,Harisingh, 41,had been working with Rajusingh since 2006 and had been pressuring him to help him start a separate shop.
Rajusingh had reportedly sought a year’s time to arrange the investment,following which the two had been quarrelling for the past three days.
On September 22,between 7.20 pm and 7.45 pm,when Rajusingh was alone at the shop on the first floor of Ganga Industries,Harisinh allegedly went there and picked up an argument with him.
During the altercation, the accused allegedly assaulted Rajusingh on the head, leaving him critically injured.
The accused subsequently informed the victim’s daughter about the incident and fled from the spot.
Rajusingh was found dead in a pool of blood, having sustained severe injuries to his head and face.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s daughter, Puttenahalli police registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder.
Senior police officers,Forensic science laboratory (FSL) personnel and the crime investigation team visited the scene and conducted an inspection.Further investigation and legal action are underway.
