Anand,28,who allegedly murdered his 23-year-old wife Vidya at a lodge in Doddaballapur on September 15,was found dead in a lake in his native Madugere village in Gauribidanur taluk on Saturday.
Senior officer told reporters that Anand had allegedly strangled Vidya to death using an ID-card lanyard at the lodge before fleeing the scene.
The murder came to light on September 16,following which police launched a search for him.
Anand’s body was subsequently found in a highly decomposed condition in the lake in Madugere village, within the jurisdiction of Gauribidanur Rural Police Station.
He was found hanging and probe confirmed that he was Anand who was on the run after the murder.
We suspect that Anand left his motorcycle near the lake, consumed alcohol and then climbed a jali tree, where he allegedly died by hanging.
An alcohol bottle and a cigarette packet were found at the base of the tree.
We also recovered two mobile phones—from Anand’s pocket—including his phone and Vidya’s phone.
The exact circumstances leading to Anand’s death are being investigated.
A case has been registered at the Gauribidanur Rural Police Station.
