The Greater Bengaluru Authority Corporations Officers and Employees Welfare Association has lodged a complaint with Bengaluru City Police Commissioner seeking legal action against an unidentified person who allegedly impersonated a Joint Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) and misused the name of a minister.
In its complaint dated September 21,the association said a person using mobile number 9483494485 had been calling officers and employees of the civic bodies, claiming to be “Shivaprakash, IAS,Joint Secretary, DPAR.”
The caller allegedly told the employees that there were complaints against them and that he had been directed by a minister to conduct an inquiry.
The employees were reportedly asked to appear before the DPAR office on the second floor of Vidhana Soudha for the purported inquiry.
Suspicious of the calls,representatives of the association reportedly contacted several Joint Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries working in the department to verify the identity of the alleged officer.
They were informed that no officer named Shivaprakash, IAS,was serving as Joint Secretary in the DPAR.
The association said several civic employees had also expressed doubts about the conduct of the caller.It alleged that the individual was misusing the names of a minister and a senior IAS officer to deceive government employees.
The association has urged the police commissioner to identify the person using the mobile number and initiate appropriate legal action for alleged impersonation, cheating and misuse of the names of senior government officials.
