Subramanyapura police have arrested three alleged mobile phone snatchers and recovered four mobile phones, ₹5,000 in cash and a scooter worth around ₹1.5 lakh.
The arrested have been identified as Sheikh Maj,25,Syed Afreedulla,21,and Mohammed Sadiq, 21.
Police said the trio allegedly targeted people in and
around Subramanyapura and neighbouring areas.
The case came to light after a complaint was filed at Subramanyapura police station on August 27.
The complainant, Ajmal Khan,21,told police that he had gone to a grocery store in Kumarswamy Layout on his bike around 1.30 am.
While returning,three unidentified persons allegedly intercepted him near Singapura Garden,assaulted him and snatched ₹4,000 before fleeing.
Based on the complaint,police registered a case under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and launched an investigation.
Following the investigation and information gathered from various sources, police arrested the three accused on August 28 and subjected them to questioning.
Police recovered four mobile phones, ₹1,000 cash and a two-wheeler with a sharp-edged weapon, besides other property.
The investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly involved in multiple snatching and theft cases.
According to police,the accused are linked to five cases registered at Subramanyapura, Konanakunte,Jayanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout and Thalaghattapura police stations.
Police said accused Sheikh Maj already had cases registered against him at JP Nagar,Koramangala and Pulakeshinagar police stations,including robbery and an NDPS Act case.
Similarly,Mohammed Sadiq has allegedly been involved in earlier cases registered at Thalaghattapura and Suryanagar police stations,besides another case at Thalaghattapura.
