*GPS-enabled Dash Cameras Installed in ‘Prahari’ Vehicles to Record Violations–Strict Action Against Illegal Waste Dumping.
Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has strengthened its ‘Prahari’surveillance system to intensify monitoring and take strict action against those illegally dumping solid waste and construction debris in public places,roadside areas,vacant sites and black spots within the Corporation limits.
Along with the two Prahari vehicles already in operation, two newly procured Prahari vehicles have been added to further strengthen surveillance over solid waste management and violations.
With this,a total of four Prahari vehicles are now operational.The vehicles were launched by BNCC Commissioner,Pommala Sunil Kumar.
*Don’t Think You Can Dump Waste and Get Away – ‘Prahari’ Keeps Watch 24×7:
All four Prahari vehicles will patrol the Corporation limits continuously 24 hours a day in two shifts.
Special surveillance will be maintained over areas where waste dumping is frequently reported,Garbage Vulnerable Points/Black Spots,major roads,market areas,vacant sites and public spaces.
All Prahari vehicles are equipped with GPS-enabled front and rear dash cameras.Violations identified during patrolling will be recorded through photographs and videos along with the time and GPS location.
If illegal dumping of waste or C&D waste in public places is detected, the concerned person,organisation or vehicle will be identified based on the available visual evidence and location details, and strict action, including penalties, will be taken as per the applicable rules.
“Public Spaces Are Not Dumping Grounds” – Commissioner Warns:
Speaking on the occasion,Commissioner,Pommala Sunil Kumar said:
“Illegal dumping of waste and construction debris in public places, roadside areas, vacant sites or black spots will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Two new Prahari vehicles have been added to the existing two, strengthening the surveillance system with a total of four vehicles operating 24×7.
Violations will be recorded through GPS-enabled dash cameras.People should not assume that they can dump waste and get away without being noticed.Strict action will be taken against those violating the rules.”
Preventing the Re-emergence of Black Spots:
Continuous surveillance will be carried out through the Prahari vehicles at Garbage Vulnerable Points/Black Spots that have already been identified and cleaned, to prevent them from becoming dumping points again.
The key objectives are to prevent the creation of new black spots,control unauthorised disposal of waste in public spaces and ensure that cleaned areas do not become dumping locations again.
*Special Surveillance on Solid Waste Management Violations:
*The Prahari vehicles will continuously monitor.
*Illegal dumping of waste along roadsides and in public places.
*Repeated dumping of waste at black spots.
*Dumping of waste in vacant sites and public spaces.
*Illegal dumping of construction and demolition (C&D) waste.
*Dumping of waste in public spaces by commercial establishments.
*Spillage of waste onto roads during waste transportation.
*Other violations related to solid waste management.
*Direct Monitoring by the Control Room and BNCC IT Team.
The GPS location, movement and operations of all four Prahari vehicles will be directly monitored by the Control Room and senior officials through an app-based Remote Access system.
Photographs,videos and GPS data recorded by the vehicles will be reviewed daily by the Corporation’s Control Room and IT team,which will monitor the identified issues and the progress of action taken.
Four ‘Prahari’ Vehicles – 24×7 Surveillance:
All four Prahari vehicles will operate 24 hours a day in two shifts, with drivers and marshals deployed in the vehicles.A total of 24 personnel have been deployed for the effective functioning of the system.
The Prahari vehicles will not merely function as complaint-response vehicles but will operate as mobile surveillance and enforcement units to detect illegal waste disposal, monitor black spots and strengthen the implementation of solid waste management regulations.
“Do not dump waste indiscriminately”:
Dispose of it properly as per the rules.If waste is dumped in public places,it will not be possible to escape the watch of ‘Prahari’,”Bengaluru North City Corporation warned the public,commercial establishments and other waste generators.
During the programme,Additional Commissioner (Revenue in-charge) and Joint Commissioner Smt. Pallavi,Joint Commissioner,Mohammad Naeem Momin, Deputy Commissioner,Somashekar,DGM Smt.Rashmi, along with marshals,drivers and various officers and staff of the Corporation were present.
