A 25-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide following alleged dowry harassment and repeated domestic disputes over childlessness at Thorenagasandra village in Bengaluru North Taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Kavya (25),a native of Koratagere in Tumakuru district.
She had been living with her husband,Naveen,at Sondekoppa near Nelamangala after their marriage, which was solemnised with the consent of both families three years ago.
Senior officer told reporters that the couple frequently argued as they had not been able to conceive even after three years of marriage.
Distressed over the recurring disputes,Kavya allegedly hanged herself at her residence late on Saturday night.
On receiving information,personnel from the Madanayakanahalli Police Station visited the spot, conducted an inspection and shifted the body to the Nelamangala mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile,Kavya’s parents have lodged a complaint alleging that Naveen subjected her to dowry harassment.
Based on the complaint,the Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to her death.
